Greetings! My name is Deirdre Weary. I fell in love with Egypt several years ago , and it is a great honor to be teaching at the BCCIS, Cairo. I am globetrotter with significant teaching experience in South Korea, China, Taiwan and Saudi Arabia. My hometown is Detroit , Michigan , USA which is approximately 15 minutes from the Canadian border. However, I am planning to make Egypt my home away from home.
I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology from Michigan State University. It was a great honor to be selected and trained by Northern Illinois University to be a STEM teacher in residence for Dong Cheng School District , Beijing China. I have earned my national teacher certification for STEM education, which compliments my government endorsed certifications for Middle School Mathematics grade 5-9 and English as Second Language K-12. As an advocate of Dr. Carol Dweck’s growth mindset theory, I strive to inspire students to have a passion for learning and to keep trying when things get difficult.
